Internet advertising grows every year because more and more consumers are turning to the internet to make purchases. As more and more people get online, there are more opportunities for profits to be made through advertising. I think online advertising has a better capability of earning more revenue, simply because so many people are drawn to the internet. However, older consumers who did not grow up in this cyber age may be more hesitant about using the internet to make purchases.

Online has the largest profit to cost margins, but the number of actual transactions is so small that the overall profit is too big. I think the answer is that advertisers have to bite the bullet and dive 100% into online if they want to have enough transactions to keep themselves a float.
People online won't pay for something they can get elsewhere for free, unless all of the sources agree to charge.
Do you think that all the media sources could work together towards this end?

I think more people are shopping online because it's convenient. You can do it anytime and anywhere. Plus, you don't have to worry about lines. I would say Internet probably leads the other forms of media in advertising. That's why we see so many of those annoying pop-up ads on Websites. Also, most people spend more time online than watching TV or listening to the radio.

I think its obvious that internet advertising is growing. Having the ability to have data such as site visits, clicks and even visitor information is a great asset to have. It will be much easier for companies to advertise on websites that target a certain customer.

I don't know if online advertising necessarily earns more because people always automatically think of TV and newspapers for advertising, probably before Internet comes to mind. Plus, there are crazy time periods where TV commercials are "worth" millions of dollars (i.e. Superbowl). As long as Internet usage grows, so will online advertising - it just makes sense.
